Board

The Circle of Friends Board of Directors consists of individuals highly committed to supporting our mission of connecting people to Packard in meaningful ways. We work together to promote the importance of supporting Packard through our events, volunteer opportunities, and through personal philanthropy.

Board Members

Sabrina Braham is a native of San Francisco where she attended Katherine Delmar Burke's School. She later attended Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire and Georgetown University in Washington DC, where she graduated with a degree in English Literature. Sabrina spent several years working in investment banking covering the pharmaceutical industry for Montgomery Securities before leaving the finance world for medical school at University of California, Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento. Sabrina completed her residency in Pediatrics at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and now sees patients at both LPCH and Palo Alto Medical Foundation. In addition to serving as Co-Chair of the parent association at Synapse School in Menlo Park, Sabrina also conducts admissions interviews, is active in major gift fundraising and serves as Class Correspondent for Phillips Exeter Academy. Sabrina lives in Palo Alto with her husband, Laurence and three children.

Staci Cole has been active with the events committee since COF began in 2007.  She was born in San Francisco and raised in Hillsborough where she attended Crystal Springs Uplands School. She graduated from UCLA with a BA in History and Business.  Afterwards, she built a career in retail real estate and became a partner at Cassidy Turley BT. She headed expansion in Northern California for Starbucks for 17 years and The Gap Companies for 10 years. Staci is most passionate about her family, health and community. She served on the Board of JFCS for 9 years and continues involvement with My New Red Shoes, the Stanford Cancer Council and Bing Nursery School. She lives in Woodside with her husband, Cary and their 2 children.

Suzanne Crandall grew up with Stanford in her back yard (but unfortunately before Lucile Packard Children's Hospital existed) and attended Phillips Brooks School, Hillview Middle School and Menlo Atherton High School. She later graduated with a BA from Duke University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and received an MBA from Stanford University. Suzanne has worked for various firms over her career including Citicorp, McKinsey & Co. and Oak Hill Capital Partners. She now sits on the boards of various organizations dedicated to improving children's education and health, including Partners in School Innovation, Duke University's Board of Visitors, and buildOn West Coast. She is honored to serve as Co-President of the Circle of Friends.

Molly Gibbons is a co-founder of Circle of Friends and has been on the Board since inception, serving as co-President for four years. Raised in Menlo Park, Molly attended Sacred Heart Preparatory in Atherton and received her BA in Creative Writing from the University of Southern California. After college, Molly worked in technology for @Home Network for four years and then went on to co-found Kibu, a social website for teen girls. Molly's most recent venture is Bespoke Home, a luxury monogram shop she and her business partner are opening in Fall 2011 in Palo Alto. Molly is an active volunteer at her children's school, enjoys running, swimming and USC football.

Calla Griffith is originally from Miami, Florida and graduated in 1995 with a B.A. in Communications from Florida International University. After moving to California in 1998, she earned a M.S. in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Psychology from San Jose State University and spent four years volunteering in rehabilitative programs that served the San Mateo county jail population. She also owned a successful event planning business that produced both social and corporate events throughout the Peninsula. Calla spends a good amount of her time volunteering and fundraising for local non-profits. She has served on the Board of Rebuilding Together Peninsula for five years. She has been an active member in the Junior League of Palo Alto-Mid Peninsula since 2003 and currently serves as Co-Chair for Membership Enrichment. Calla also volunteers her time with My New Red Shoes, Summer Search Silicon Valley and with the Menlo Atherton Education Foundation Board that supports the Menlo Park School District. In her free time, she enjoys travel, photography and spending time with family and friends. Calla lives in Atherton with her husband, Will, and their three children.

Sara Hirsch has happily settled in the Bay Area after growing up in the Pacific Northwest. A graduate of The University of Washington with BA's in Art History and English Literature, she went on to find herself through fashion, art and a short stint teaching first grade in the South Bronx. After getting her M.Arch at Parson's NYC and Paris, she came back to the West Coast and pursued her career in design. Sara also holds certifications from Sotheby's Institute of Art in Art Business and Antique Connoisseurship. She has spent her volunteer time with Bridges: A Center for Grieving Children, Eastside Prep in East Palo Alto and Resurge International, where she has accompanied teams on reconstructive medical trips around the world. Sara's downtime is spent running, swimming and on her bike, often with other USA Cycling Champions Club members. She likes to travel and play and spend as much time as possible with her husband Russell and their son Simon Enzo at home in Los Altos Hills. Sara is passionate about her involvement with Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and Circle of Friends and feels extremely fortunate to have this amazing institution in her backyard.

Jocelyn Hornblower grew up just outside Minneapolis, MN where she attended The Blake School. She went on to Middlebury College and graduated in 2001 with a degree in International Politics and Economics. After graduation, Jocelyn spent 1 year as an equity research analyst with RBC Capital Markets in New York, followed by 2 years as an investor relations associate with Financial Relations Board in San Francisco.  She went on to earn an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business (GSB) in 2006.  She then joined software company Intuit, in Mountain View, as a Corporate Development manager.  Most recently, Jocelyn was a case writer in the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Stanford's GSB, and currently works on various projects for different GSB professors.  Jocelyn also conducts Alumni Admission Interviews for Middlebury College.  In her free time, Jocelyn loves to spend time with her family and two Boston Terriers.  Jocelyn lives in the Menlo Park area with her husband Josiah and their daughter Alexandra, soon to be joined by a baby boy.

Rose Lanham joined Circle of Friends immediately after attending the 2008 Spring Lunch & Learn session with guest speaker Sloan Barnett. Not only did the mission of the organization touch on an area very close to her heart, she also ran into friends from her children's preschool, music class, the medical center, former colleagues and friends from her gym. Friends from many different “circles". Supporting the hospital also became more prominent in her mind when two close friends both had their newborn babies admitted to the Stanford NICU at the same time. Circle of Friends seemed like a perfect organization to join.


Rose and her husband Drew have two young, active children, both born at Stanford. They feel very fortunate to have this hospital in our back yard. In a former life Rose was a Marketing Manager at Yahoo!, producing the Client Sales Events and prior to Y! worked in sports marketing in San Diego. Her event productions are now on a much smaller scale: getting to the park, pool or school on time, and ice cream outings once in a while too.

Penelope Murray was born and raised in Montreal, Canada.  She moved with her family to Newport Beach California for High School. After attending Newport Harbor High School, she moved to the Bay Area to attend UC Berkeley and study economics.  Penelope worked at several different investment banks such as Morgan Stanley and Hambrecht and Quist in institutional sales.  She retired for several years to bring her 2 beautiful children into the world. As the children have grown and now attend school she has returned to work as a partner at an independent market research firm that specializes in pattern mining research.  Penelope enjoys working with Circle of Friends on their philanthropic efforts.  In her free time she loves heading out to the barn to ride horses with her kids.

Ashley Riley grew up just outside Minneapolis, MN where she attended The Blake School. She went on to Middlebury College and graduated in 1998 with a degree in Psychology. After graduation, Ashley spent 2 years as an investment banking analyst with Robertson Stephens in San Francisco. She went on to conduct investor relations for Commtouch Software and spent 2 years as a substitute teacher for elementary aged children at the Phillips Brooks School in Menlo Park. Ashley is one of the founders of Circle of Friends and also sits on the Board of Directors of The Fit Kids Foundation. Ashley is an active volunteer for THYCA (Thyroid Cancer Survivor's Association) and she conducts Alumni Admission Interviews for Middlebury College.  In her free time Ashley enjoys spending time with family and friends and staying active through various sports and fitness activities. Ashley lives in the Menlo Park area with her husband Ren and their 4 children.

Karen Sonneborn grew up in the Bay Area.  She graduated with a degree in Economics from Princeton University in 1995, where she played Varsity Tennis for four years and served as Captain during her senior year.  After graduation, she worked as an investment banking analyst at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York.  She then worked in investor relations in New York and Los Angeles, where she received an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.  She went on to work in business development at Warner Bros. in Burbank, focusing primarily on digital strategy.  Karen has been a Board Member of Circle of Friends since 2010.  She is an active alumna of Princeton, and serves on the '95 Annual Giving Team.  While living in the Los Angeles area, Karen was a Trustee of the Los Angeles Zoo as well as a Director of KCET, Southern California's public television station.  She was also a member of H.E.A.R.T., an auxiliary group supporting the Violence Intervention Program in East Los Angeles, and the Everychild Foundation.  She continues as a Sustaining Member of the Luminaires, Juniors, an organization benefiting the Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles.  Karen and her husband, Bill, have three young children.

Lacey Wismer is a financial consultant for health care start-ups in the Bay Area and a Managing Director of a private fund of funds. Previously, she was in the corporate finance division at Deutsche Bank Securities, where she was an Associate in the health care group.  Lacey received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado in May 1999 and a Master's in Business Administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business in June 2004.  She has supported Lucile Packard Children's Hospital since 2008 by volunteering with Furry Friends, a pet-assisted therapy service, and through her involvement with Circle of Friends, and she is honored to be a Co-President of the organization.  Lacey and her husband Justin live in Atherton with their three children.
